Beyond Apology: A Series of Community Conversations on Repair and Reparations in Tulsa, OK

Beyond Apology is a series of community conversations rooted in education on what repair and reparation in Tulsa, OK should look like.

Purpose – Beyond Apology was created in honor of the Ancestors that built the Greenwood community in Tulsa, OK and in support of the survivors and descendants of the Tulsa Race Massacre and their ongoing quest for justice, repair and reparation.

Sessions – The sessions are open to the public and all are welcome. Sessions are designed to be accessible to any community member regardless of their prior knowledge of or connection to the Tulsa Race Massacre and ensuing harms rooted in racial inequity. As a participant, you can but do not need to attend all sessions. Each is designed to be a stand alone event with a consistent scope, sequence and opportunities for input. That said, each session will bring a uniqueness thanks to the variety of perspectives of community members sharing the space.

Each session will provide participants with knowledge/context around the following areas:
*Official studies and recommendations for reparations regarding the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre
*Equality data in Tulsa, OK
*Legal and legislative efforts for Reparations in Tulsa, OK (Past & Current)
*Case studies of reparative acts in the United States and around the world
*Public commitments made to repair harms stemming from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre

The ask of participants: Participants will be given the space and opportunity to express what repair or reparation should look like and what areas of repair or reparation should be prioritized.
